Cooking, baking and consuming good food – Exploring LA and adventuring beyond – Enjoying quality time with quality people – Star and moon gazing

If you spend as little as an hour of time with me, you will probably discover that I love food. I love to cook and bake, smell and eat, serve and share. Food connects us all – it’s something we all have in common as human beings; something that brings people together – which is part of what I love about it.

I think this passion for food is also in my blood. Food has always been a big part of my life – growing up in a big Armenian family, the question that was always on our minds was, “So, what are we having for [insert next meal of the day]?” And there was always a friendly (usually) discussion/disagreement/argument over how this auntie made something and that auntie made it a different way, and this uncle makes such and such better than that uncle. Let’s just say, food was and is always a topic of conversation in the Ouzounian household, and therefore, I always thought it was normal.

As I’ve gotten older, food has morphed into my own thing – it has kept its status of importance in my life of being something that brings people together, but has become a way for me to now share the joy and enjoyment with others, rather than just me being on the receiving end. Food has also become a way for me to exercise my not-so-confident creative side. It is an area that I feel comfortable experimenting with, and am not afraid of. Now, am I trained in the art of cooking or baking? No… Do I always know what I’m doing in the kitchen? No… BUT, do I enjoy it? Yes. And if you ask me, that’s all that matters. SO, this isn’t me showing off my non-existent, mad culinary skills. This blog is me, sharing my passions with whomever might be interested.

I also love exploring my city and discovering its treasures – both the food-related and non-food-related. LA has SO much to offer, and even after living here my whole life, I discover new things about it each day. And I love sharing them with others. I don’t know why, but I feel like I have this self-created obligation to show off my city and to keep all of my friends who have migrated here loving it as much as I do, so that they stay here forever. We really do have it all – restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, hiking, concerts, beaches, sunsets, and not to mention, the mountains and desert are just a short drive away. How am I doing? Well, if I haven’t convinced you to stay/come to LA yet, I make it my mission to do so.
