Happy first day of fall, everyone! It’s probably my favorite day of the year, other than Christmas (of course!). As I mentioned in my sweet potato hash post – I absolutely love this season, and am so incredibly excited that it is here!
Ok, so thanks to an Instagram account I follow, @thecopperhen , my obsession with all things copper (especially home and kitchen goods) has been fed! The Copper Hen, an adorable (from what I’ve seen in pictures) farmhouse-chic restaurant and cake bakery located inΒ Minneapolis, Minnesota, informed me that Target carried these amazing Fido glass jars with copper clamp-on lids, which I am obsessed with!
I was incredibly excited and went out and bought myself a pair of them! But now…what to fill them with?! Comment with your ideas, and I’ll choose one and feature it in a future post! May the best man/woman win!
By the way, is anyone else as in LOVE with Starbucks’ fall cups and sleeves as I am?

Apple butter!
Thanks for the idea, Whitney! π
I’m in love with this blog, and post, as much as you are in love with the fido jars with copper lids! Just sent this post to my mom who lives in St. Paul, MN and told her to check out the copper hen. It’s now on my to do list for when I go back this thanksgiving.
Your talents are exuded through your writing Meliss! Xo
Thanks, Caty! So glad you are enjoying The Common Counter! And yes!! Your mom and you should definitely go visit The Copper Hen! I want to hear all about it if either of you do! π
Love you – thanks, Caty! xoxo
The apples in your pictures looks so beautiful, so I just suggest an apple butter! I think that’s a nice fall recipe. Your blog looks great Melissa !! π
Such a great fall recipe idea, Alyssa! Love it! Thanks for that! π
These jars truly are adorable! I see why you are obsessed! I suggest spiced nuts (maybe Rosemary Almonds!) or something with apricots like jam or a glaze. I love apricots and the color would pop against the copper!
Thanks for the ideas, Rach! Love both of them! I agree, the apricot color would look lovely with the copper! And you should make a trip to Target – they should still have them! π
I like the nuts idea! You could fill it up with monte but it would get eaten pretty fast π I love navigating through your blog. Great job! Way to go Melissa!
Yum! What a good idea, Daddy! But I agree, it might me a quick stay for the monte… π Thanks for the idea though, and I’m so glad you are enjoying The Common Counter! π xoxo
